Locals said Hindus organised the three-day programme in a temple of the village from Wednesday evening. Some 10 to 12 masked attackers swooped on those attending the programme around 9:00pm and beat them up, leaving six people injured.
The injured are Tuku Chandra Paramanik, Bilu Chandra Sarker, Sindhu Bala, Anjali Rani, Aloke Chandra Sarker and Nirmal Chandra Sarker. They were admitted to Palashbari Upazila Health complex.
Swapan Thakur, organiser of the programme, blamed Jamaat-Shibir activists for the attack.
