She is Hindu Goddess “Maa Kaali” incarnation of Goddess Parvati. She took this incarnation to finish the evil-minded demons. In this picture on one side it’s a demon “Raktabīja”(blood seed) and on the other side it’s her husband “Lord Shiva”. Raktabīja impressed Lord Shiva by his “Tapasya”(a spiritual meditation practice) when lord shiva appeared in front of him, he asked a boon from Shiva that whenever a drop of his blood fell on the ground, various Raktabījas would emerge from the spot, equivalent to his strength, form, and weapons. Basically, the power of making his own clones by his blood drops, already impressed Lord Shiva gave him that power. Later Raktabīja started misusing his power and started a battle against “Devtas” (gods) from heaven. Due to his powers, Devtas were unable to defeat him all Devtas went to Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu but failed to get their problem resolved. At the end they worshipped Goddess Shakti aka Parvati. She appeared in front of them and heard their problem. At the request of Devtas , she fought against the demons, but due the special power of Raktabīja she didn’t get success to finish him completely then she took the form of “Maa Kaali” and asked her to drink his entire blood in order to finish that demon she drunk every single drop of his blood. She became so angry while finishing Raktabīja that it was difficult to calm her down. This form of Kali Maa could be destructive, so all the Devtas (gods) approached Lord Shiva and said that only you can calm the anger of Maa.
It was not easy even for Lord Shiva to pacify the anger of Maa Kali, to calm her down Lord Shiva lay down in the path of Maa Kali. As soon as angry mother Kali stepped on Lord Shiva, she hesitated and stopped and her anger calmed down her tongue came out of her mouth because she felt guilty that she stepped on her dear husband’s chest.
