Kashmiri Hindus Protest Against Renaming of Shankaracharya hill

A Protest was organized by a body of several Kashmiri Hindu Organizations to protest against the renaming of the Shankaracharya hill in Kashmir to Takht-E-Sualiman.

A lot of points were brought up in the assembly by several speakers including the anti Hindu rhetoric of the Indian Government lead by the Congress party in the Center. Questions were raised about the method by which the Archeological Society of India arrived at the conclusion which gave credibility to the claims of the Muslims in Kashmir for renaming the Shankaracharya hill. An overall voice was raised to highlight the problems being faced by the Kashmiri Pandit community in the unwillingness of the GOI to create an atmosphere congenial for the return of Kashmiri Pandits because of the policy of appeasement of Non Hindus in India.

Invitations for the program were setup by Roots in Kashmir who’s members played a pivotal role in assembling speakers and protestors alike.  Around 200 Kashmiri Pandits and a few other Hindu participated in this demonstration and the demonstrators renewed their pledge to regain their homes lost during the Islamic Jihad that started its full fledged operation in Kashmir during the late 90’s.  Some non-Separatist Kashmir Muslims had also joined the protest.

At least one speaker retired Col Kaul stressed for the need for KP to mentally strengthen themselves and for the GOI to militarize them so that they could defend their home, hearth and honor from the vast hordes of Islamist organizations like Hurriyat, JKLF, etc.
