KR15 HNA Licence plate sets new record new British record

A personalised registration has set a new British record after selling for more than £230,000, according to the DVLA.

KR15 HNA was bought by a London-based businesswoman during an auction at the Casa Hotel in Chesterfield.

It is the most expensive current style registration to be sold by the DVLA. The previous record was set by MR51 NGH in 2006.

KR15 HAN also sold for £98,500 at the three-day auction.

The DVLA did not want to speculate on why the buyer bought the registration but it resembles the word Krishna, which is a Hindu god.

The Swansea-based agency said the highest-fetching registration of all time was “25 O”, which sold for £518,000 at a special 25th anniversary auction in November.

It said more than £2bn had been raised for the Treasury through the sale of personalised registration plates.
