Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband, American singer and preacher’s son Nick Jonas, offered prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya with their two-year-old daughter, Malti Marie, on 20 March 2024 and now is being called a ‘Sanghi’, ‘Hindu Fascist’, ‘Scumbag’ .
In the Hinduphobic racist western media and their Indian neo-colonialist sycophant counterparts, the construction of Ram temple has been castigated as being controversial and on the site of a destroyed mosque. Such insulting statements have more in common with the British Raj than the India of today.
While British rule may have ended the virus it spawned has endured. By this I am referring to India’s Anglophone elite who replaced their British masters with ideological ones who worshipped Lenin and Mao. Even with the much vaunted secularism, this kept loyal to its Christian roots by retaining the infallibility of Christianity and Islam from criticism, while continuing to denigrate the indigenous pagan Hindu culture. It is into this elite that Chopra Jonas was born.
Therefore it is no surprise that before her visit to Ayodhya, Chopra Jonas was very critical of that indigenous culture of India. During the Miss World 2000 beauty pageant she openly expressed admiration for Mother Teresa, a known scam artist and fraudster, who combined soliciting funds off gullible people and associating with criminals and despots, with pushing her extreme version of Christianity onto any Hindu that would come into her vice like grip. Meanwhile in her native land of Albania the communist government had banned all religion.
In 2018 Chropra had urged people not to burst firecrackers on Diwali. Being asthmatic it creates pollution. Yet not only did she light fireworks at her own wedding, but she smokes. The same year she visited a camp for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh; part of her role as UN goodwill ambassador. In 2022 she met with Ukrianian refugees in Poland. Yet in her country of birth she has not done the same for Hindu refugees fleeing persecution, forcible conversion, sexual violence and eventual genocide from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and India’s very own Kashmir state.
Returning back to 2018 Priyanka starred in American series in Quantico which Hindu terrorists were featured. This is in keeping with the colonialist mindset that unites all parts of the political spectrum against the idol worshipping, polytheist, pagan heathen Hindu masses.
This episode involved Hindu terrorists in Kashmir. In reality that part of India has suffered Pakistan backed jihad which has seen the entire Hindu population (that were not exterminated) made refugees in their own homeland. In western democracies this genocide and ethnic cleansing is termed ‘self-determination’ for Kashmir. Now that the Chopra Jonas family have been to Ayodhya, the attacks have started from that same ideological source.
It would be easy to blame Priyanka Chopra for indulging in constant Hinduphobia, ignoring plight of Hindus and then suddenly doing a volte-face and visiting a sacred shrine that has earned the wrath of western democracies and Islamic countries in equal measure.
However it is important to remember at this stage that she is a product of her environment which regarded anything Hindus as backward, superstitious, extremist and incompatible with secularism. In many ways the latter element is true because secularism was important as the necessary by product of Protestants and Catholics trying to exterminate each other in Europe during centuries of religious conflict. As India returns back to its original cultural and civilizational moorings, the ideological shift will change the minds of many who once disowned it as an embarrassment.
