The U.S. is set to host the world’s second-largest Hindu temple outside India, to be formally inaugurated on October 8 in New Jersey. Hailed as the world’s largest Hindu temple outside India “in the modern era”, the Akshardham temple was built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham organization. This grand temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan.
This is good and should be welcomed but is there going to be a professional exhibition in the large temple of the persecution of Hindus past and present? Is there going to be an exhibition of Hindu resistance where Hindu male and female warriors through 800 years of history defended Hinduism while most of the ancient world ended up in the museum? Otherwise, this temple like most Hindu temples wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the sacrifices of these warriors and the gurus who inspired them to keep Hinduism alive as it is today.
If you can’t even raise these issues to your own community because of some pseudo-Hindu airy fairy escapism which really means extreme cowardice presently uniting the majority of Hindu sects, Gurus, Swamis, and most Hindus then why should the world care? And then what Hinduism are you promoting? because according to Hindu teachings, cowardice itself is seen as Adharma. All Hindu temples especially those major ones also in India paying jizya to the Indian government should be forced to have these exhibits to educate the masses.
Can you imagine synagogues never raising the holocaust? Most anti-Hindu propaganda goes via religious places but most Hindu temples that get millions of Hindus weekly never ever raise the persecution of Hindus is our experience.
When we met the late Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 2007 he asked one of the swamis there with a laptop to see the HHR site. After seeing it he said to his congregation of swamis present that these are the type of Hindus we now need as Hinduism is under attack from all directions. So even he was aware that Hindus need to become active to stand up against the attacks just like how our meeting with Swami Dayananda Saraswati from Arsha Vidya who also said the same that action is needed by raising the attacks on Hindus.
