New Zealand’s parliament was briefly suspended on Thursday after Te Pati Maori MPs staged a haka (a traditional Maori dance made famous by New Zealand’s rugby team) led by New Zealand’s youngest MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke began the traditional ceremonial chant also ripped up a copy of the bill to disrupt the vote on a contentious bill that would reinterpret a 184-year-old treaty between the British and Indigenous Maori.
