‘Absolutely disgusting to see the manner in which Sadhvi Pragya Singh got heckled in parliament while taking oath today. She spoke in Sanskrit and the moment she uttered her Sanyaasa name which includes the name of her Guru Poorna Chetananda Avdheshananda Giri, all hell broke loose with Congress party members and others screaming themselves hoarse. The Speaker joined hands with the clueless and kept repeating “Aapke pitaji ka naam boliye”. Such ignorance about Sanyaasa! This highest body of lawmaking in the land of Bharatvarsha has no freaking clue about how Sanyaasis renounce their family ties, how in fact, they perform the last rites of their previous existence and ceremonially take on a new life with a new name when they embrace Sanyaasa. The guru becomes the father after biological ties are severed. Sanyasis follow the lineage of their gurus.
What I saw today was a deep insult of Sanatana Dharma right inside the parliament. We all collectively owe a huge debt to the Sanyaasis who gave so much knowledge and wisdom to the world, which is still sustaining us. Sadhvi could be heard beseeching “Ishwar ke naam se shapath to lene dijiye”. Never before has oath-taking of new members of parliament been interrupted like this. To me, it seemed like Asuras were sitting all around and throwing garbage on someone performing a yajna. This must be the peak of ignorance in the Kali Yuga. The day of destruction feels close’.
